Hello Everybody!

Today we will discuss the use of pearl stains and metallic stains.

Our discussion will be a brief one since most of the techniques used in this class were already discussed in previous ones.

Something new about this class is the use of pearl stains.

Before we painted the details on the piece with pearl stain we used white opaque stain. This step is not necessary when using the pearl stains but the white stain makes the iridescent quality of the pearl stain to be accentuated.

For this class we used the copper metallic stain. It is generally used with a teal green antique.

One of the characteristics of opaque stains is that they can be mixed to create other colors.

Today we applied this knowledge to create a different tint of the turquoise color in this project.

To produce a tint of a color use the white stain.

To produce a shade of a color use black.

If you want to reduce the color intensity use gray.

We used a different tint of the turquoise color to establish a contrast between the interior and the exterior surfaces of the ceramic piece.

In our next class we will give you a whole description of the pearl stains.

In this class we show you two different cherub styles. We have more than 20 different cherubs. The ones used for the Victorian tub are approximately 4 inches tall.

Hoy discutiremos la técnica de tintes perlados y tintes metálicos.

Nuestra discusión de hoy será breve puesto que las técnicas utilizadas en esta clase ya fueron dsicutidas en nuestras clases anteriores.

Algo nuevo sobre esta clase lo es el uso de tintes perlados.

Antes de pintar los detalles de la pieza con tinte perlado utilizamos tinte opaco blanco. Este paso no es necesario al utilizar el tinte perlado pero usando el tinte opaco primero logramos que la cualidad de iridiscencia en el tinte perlado se acentúe.

Para esta clase utilizamos el tinte metálico color cobre. Generalmente este color se utiliza con un añejado color verde "teal".

Una de las características de los tintes opacos es la de poder mezclarlos para crear otros colores.

Hoy utilizamos este conocimiento para crear un tinte diferente del color turquesa.

Para producir un tono diferente de un color usa el tinte blanco.

Si quieres producir un tono más oscuro de tu color base utiliza el negro.

Si quieres reducir la intensidad de tu color base utiliza el gris.

En este proyecto utilizamos un tono diferente del turquesa para establecer un contraste entre la superficie interior y exterior de la pieza de cerámica.

En nuestra próxima clase les daremos una descripción completa de los tintes perlados.

En este proyecto les mostramos dos diferentes estilos de querubines. Tenemos más de 20 estilos diferentes de querubines. Los utilizados en la Bañera Victoriana son de aproximadamente 4 pulgadas.

Algunas sugerencias para la decoración de este proyecto son las siguientes:

Sólo nos queda una clase para tomar el receso del período Navideño. Pero les prometemos continuar nuestras clases después de Navidad. Discutiremos el uso de las tizas, la técnica de pincel mojado, las pastas metálicas, diseños, etc.
