Antique - to give an appearance

of age to a ceramic piece by applying

color, then wiping it down leaving some

of the color in the crevices.

Anticuar - añejar, dar apariencia de

viejo a una pieza de cerámica aplican-

do color y luego removiendo éste con

esponja o tela de las partes

sobresalientes de la pieza.

Bisque - a ceramic object that

had been fired.

Bristle brush - a firm brush.

Barbotina - pasta cerámica suspendida

en agua. Conocida también como

papilla o barro líquido. Tiene

la propiedad de adherirse a las

paredes del molde creando un

duplicado del diseño en el molde.

Bizcocho - pieza de cerámica que

ha sido quemada en horno.

Casting - pouring of ceramic molds.

The term is used to denote the poured

piece of greenware.

Crystalline Stain - they have this "light

diffusing" quality that gives different

reflections at different angles. They are

smooth and permanent (no sealer is

required as other granite products).

Crudo - es la pieza de barro sacada

del molde y que no ha sido quemada

en el horno.

Flat - without gloss.

Greenware - the finished product

of the pouring process in hobby

ceramics.

Hard spot - When slip strikes a mold

in the pouring process at a single

spot, silicates in the clay tend to build

up, causing an area which may resist

decoration later.

Matte - with a very soft gloss.

Mate - con brillo muy suave.

Moldes de yeso - forma hueca de yeso

en la que se reproducen piezas usando

barbotina.

Opaque - without a transparency

characteristic. 

Opaque stains - these are water-

based colors, requiring one or two

applications for coverage of the

bisque. They are usually applied

with a square shader and are fast

drying. They are for decorative use

only and should not be used on

items that would hold food.

Opaco - bloquea cualquier otro

color que esté debajo. No tiene

transparencia.

Plaster mold - a container into which

liquid clay or slip is poured for the

production of greenware.

There are two types of pour molds:

Pincel chato - pincel cuadrado.

Pincel de cerda dura - pincel firme.

Punto duro - área que rechaza el color.

A veces es causado por pulir dema-

siado el crudo al limpiar con esponja.

Lo causa además la acumulación del

silicato cuando la barbotina da por

primera vez en el molde.  

S12 - antiquing media - water

soluble. Can be used with any water

base stain for antiquing or marbleizing.

Sealer - used over colors to protect

the ware surface.

Shader brush - a square brush.

Slip or liquid clay - is a form of clay

with the property of being able to be

poured into a plaster mold, picking

up the fine details and impressions

of the plaster and remaining firm

even after the excess slip is drained

from the mold.

Stain - They are colors applied to clean

bisque only. They are for decorative

pieces and should not be used

on items that would hold food. They have

a relatively permanent nature.

S12 - medio para añejar. Es soluble

en agua. Puede ser usado con cualquier

tinte con base de agua.

Sellador - utilizado para proteger los

colores. 

Tinte - acabado decorativo que

se aplica a bizcocho. No deben

ser utilizados en artículos utilitarios.

Son de naturaleza relativamente

permanente.

Tinte granulado - tiene un acabado

suave y permanente con una textura que

permite la difusión de la luz creando

diferentes tonalidades cuando se mira

de diferentes ángulos. No requiere sellado

como otros productos con textura de

granito.

Tintes opacos - solubles en agua.

Requieren una o dos aplicaciones

para cubrir totalmente. Son muy fáciles

de aplicar usando un pincel chato de

cerda dura. No deben ser usados en

artículos que han de entrar en contacto

con alimentos.

Vaciado - proceso de crear un objeto

cerámico mediante barro líquido o

barbotina dentro de un molde de yeso.
